How Do You Know If You're Paying Too Much in Taxes? | Capital Compass & Key LIVE Ep. 13

Why seeing the complete picture can uncover opportunities you may have otherwise missed.

Most people think of a tax return as a record of the past.

I see it as one of the best planning tools for the future.

A tax return can reveal much more than what you owed last year. It can help identify planning opportunities, highlight areas worth exploring, and provide a clearer understanding of your overall financial picture.

In this episode of Capital Compass & Key LIVE, I discuss how technology and thoughtful analysis can turn tax information into meaningful financial strategy.

In this conversation, we discuss:

  • Why a tax return should be used as a planning tool
  • How visualizing your tax picture leads to better decisions
  • Identifying opportunities that may deserve a closer look
  • Asking better questions about your long-term strategy
  • Using data to build a more informed financial plan

One of the tools I'm most excited about is the tax planning software we use with clients.

Rather than simply preparing a return, it allows us to organize years of tax information into clear visuals that help answer bigger questions. Are there opportunities that have been overlooked? Are there strategies worth considering? Is your current approach still the most effective?

Those conversations become much more valuable when you can actually see the impact different planning decisions may have over time.

The goal isn't to make tax preparation more complicated.

It's to make financial planning more informed.

That's the perspective I hope to share through Capital Compass & Key LIVE—practical conversations that help business owners, families, and professionals think more strategically about taxes, retirement, and long-term wealth.

Thank you for reading. I look forward to continuing the conversation in the next episode of Capital Compass & Key LIVE.
